Today Barbados is so much more than an Island in the West Indies. It has almost become a way of life, synonymous with exclusive hotels, fashionable restaurants, and an ever increasing array of luxurious villas and apartments. Yet what made the island so popular-its coral sandy beaches, crystalline blue water and warm friendly people – is still very much in evidence.

Always vibrant, Barbados’s winter social scene continues to rival that of major cities worldwide, with its stylish collection of West Coast restaurants. The Island is now rapidly becoming an all year round destination with the climate to suit, where the average temperatures varies little more than one degree Celsius. With many more flights to the Island it has become much more accessible. The Grantley Adams International Airport is now complete with new arrivals terminals and departure lounges. This in turn has led to an improvement in the road system and infrastructure making all parts of the island a short trip away.

Barbados has produced a host of cricket players whose influence around the world has been quite disproportionate to the size of the country. And as hosts of the finals of the 2OO7 ICC Cricket World Cup, Barbados will attract new visitors and investment to the island. Its sporting prowess does not stop there. It would be impossible to discuss Barbados without mentioning the game of golf. The design talents of Tom Fazio and Robert Trent Jones have been used to optimal effect on the Championship Courses of Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane – host to the 2OO6 WGC World Cup. Barbados attracts many of the leading golfers of the world.
